This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed and innovative Revenues and Benefits professional to lead a high performing service striving to be the ‘best in class’.
Windsor and Maidenhead Revenues and Benefits service has a strong reputation with a consistent record of achievement. It benefits greatly from a positive culture, stable and supportive management and a committed workforce.
To us it’s not just about performance figures and statistics, it’s as much about meeting the needs of our residents. We share a steadfast commitment to providing a service that sees people as individuals - not just claim forms that need processing. As such, our largely back office function of the past is now more customer facing, with a number of hubs located within libraries across the borough.
Our success to date only fuels our ambitions for the future. As the successful candidate, you will have a solid platform on which to build further success. This is a role in which you will have ample opportunity to hone your technical and managerial skills, to be at the forefront of best practice, and to develop those around you so they are able to perform at their very best.
You’ll ensure high standards are maintained and will seek opportunities to enhance the service further by bringing fresh ideas as well as learning from others. You’ll embed a culture of continuous improvement that is able to respond to changing demands, statutory and legislative requirements.
You’ll also be open to working with other stakeholders, including parish councils and the voluntary sector, who through us working together can offer a more holistic package of support and give “a little bit more”.
Key to your success will be your Revenues and Benefits expertise. You’ll come with a proven track record of achievement in delivering a comparable service, whether from within another local authority or private sector provider. Regardless of which sector you are from, you’ll be fully conversant with both the current and future challenges facing local government including the potential move to 100% Business Rate Retention and the impact of the roll out of Universal Credit (Full Service).
You’ll be a trusted and respected manager, able to quickly establish credibility with all key stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation including elected members. You’ll also be confident in both writing and presenting reports, with a passion for helping others to capitalise on their strengths.
Windsor and Maidenhead is an exceptional borough to live and work in. As a council, we are successful, commercially minded and forward thinking. We are also lucky that in contrast to many, our strong financial base means we have the capacity and the resources to make things happen.
In your role, we want you to feel supported, challenged and rewarded. You will benefit from our family friendly policies including flexible and agile working, generous leave entitlement, as well as access to the Local Government pension scheme and other staff benefits.
We wish to make the application process as straightforward as possible and we just ask that you complete our online application form providing further information against just a couple of specific questions. You are also welcome to attach your CV to further support your application.
