Doncaster Children’s Services Trust

Vacancy Description

Fixed term contract for 12 months/secondment opportunity

About the role

Do you have the ability and motivation to challenge the current thinking, integrate social care services and drive service improvement?

If so Doncaster Children’s Services Trust have the role for you.

Our place plan is simple, we believe health and social care should be integrated across the life course; from conception and early years, through to childhood and adolescence, into adulthood and supporting the elderly in later life.

We already have the vision, but now we need an exceptional leader to help us achieve goals and outcomes agreed by the Integrated Care Partnership.

In this role, you will be the lead Programme Manager for children and young people. You will be responsible for two opportunity areas

  • The first 1001 days – conception to a child’s 2nd birthday
  • Vulnerable Adolescents – specifically those young people who are looked after or have acute mental ill health

Working with a dedicated group of managers and senior leaders you will be supported in designing and trialling new practice through the two project plans.

This role offers a rare opportunity to work at both a strategic and hands-on level.  You will be influential at the highest level, developing new ideas and researching what works to ensure any new practice is evidence-based and genuinely improves the lives of children and families in Doncaster.

About you

As a health or social care professional, you will have experience of leading services for children and young people and working alongside their families. The voice of the child will have informed your own practice, which must in turn influence how the place plan is developed.

To be successful in this role, as well as the experience of leading services for children and young people you will have a good working knowledge of programme management. You’ll also be versed in systematic approaches to service development and implementation, and be able to mitigate risks that may impact on agreed outcomes.

Last but not least, you will have the gravitas to negotiate with colleagues across a number of organisations, bringing sound reasoning and evidence to support key decisions and business cases for change.

About us and our partners

At Doncaster Children’s Services Trust we believe that children should be at the centre of everything we do. These aren’t just words to us, at the heart of our business is a team of young people (our Chief Executive Young Advisors) who have experience of care. They advise the Chief Executive on how to run the Trust and how services can be improved for other children and young people.

Our values are ‘be respectful, be excellent, make a difference’. And that is exactly what we do, we make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children.

Whilst this role is managed by the Trust, it is on behalf of the Place Plan. This will mean you will be working closely with a number of partners in Doncaster e.g. DMBC, CCG, NHS Trusts, St Leger Homes. To be successful in this role you will need to have the ability to negotiate, influence, embrace&unite this partnership at a strategic and operational level to deliver the key requirements of the Place Plan.

In return for your hard work, we offer a range of benefits to make working with us attractive. We are committed to flexible working, including compressed hours. In addition to this, we offer excellent financial benefits including a defined benefit pension scheme, a salary sacrifice car lease scheme and a range of discounts.
