We are ambitious and have a growth and regeneration agenda with plans to build 11,000 new council homes in the borough, in addition, major regeneration programmes are underway including the town centre regeneration in Elephant and Castle. This project alone will encompass a mixture of major commercial and residential buildings and be valued at over three-billion pounds. 

In this role, you will be commercially aware and support the Group Manager of Building Control in delivering an effective service, helping to achieve Southwark Council’s Business Plan and corporate objectives. 

Your work will include the checking of plans, including complex buildings, and associated site inspections to ensure they meet building regulation requirements. 

All the while maintaining a customer focused Building Control service that fully responds to the needs of Southwark’s diverse community. 


As a technical expert for Southwark, you will be RICS, ABE, IStructE, ICE or CIOB qualified and be able to evidence continual professional development. 

You will relish the opportunity work autonomously and when necessary deputise for the Group Manager. 

You will also have experience of working with Tier 1 developers on high risk, high-rise and complex buildings.
